SAINT-OURS-HAUT AND ROCHE-LA-CROIX FORTS
The first locks against the Italian invader, the forts of Saint-Haut and Roche-la-Croix in Val d'Oronaye
These forts are open almost every day in summer between 10am and 6pm. With the hamlet of Saint Bears on the banks of Ubayette and at nine km away from col du Larche and Italy, this particular position made these forts the first locks facing the Italian invader. The Saint-Ours-Haut fort and its twin, the Roche-la-Croix forts were built in 1931 as part of the Maginot line to access the Durance valley. The Saint-Ours-Haut fort could accommodate 260 men and was completely autonomous. You will also receive precious information from the association.
