NOTRE-DAME-DU-THOR
This church is the pride of the inhabitants of Oraison, with its imposing 33 m high bell tower
Built in 1662, this church is the pride of the inhabitants of Oraison, with its imposing 33 m high bell tower. It houses 2 paintings listed as historical monuments. One represents the Adoration of the Magi and the other the Death of Saint Joseph. They were restored in 1992 and 1993 respectively. The 17th century bell comes from the village of Ubaye, which was engulfed in 1958 during the construction of the Serre-Ponçon dam. The bell was installed in 1862 and has even been used in the cinema as it can be heard ringing in the film L'Eau vive, by Jean Giono.
