LES COUPOLES DE PUIMICHEL
The Puimichel Observatory has long been a high-profile astronomy astronomy. In addition to the fact that it is home to the largest amateur telescopes in France (the largest 1 m in diameter!), it is also the "lone" of a few great names of optics and mechanics such as Dany Cardoen to whom some mirrors used by ESO (European Southern Observatory) in Chile are owed; or Serge Deconihout great specialist in the construction of instruments. It is possible to visit the observatory and the cupolas, as well as to observe in a 700 mm telescope installed for the circumstance. These observations are not programmed in advance but usually decided on order, according to the expectations of transient astronomers. The rates are all the more interesting because the sky on site is very good and the images obtained in a telescope of such large diameter are often fabulous… To you the spiral arms of distant galaxies, details at the heart of the nebulae, and breathtaking visions of planetary surfaces. Our advice: In addition to the fact that you have to ensure the right weather conditions when booking your evening, remember to take a look at the lunar phase so that you don't get embarrassed by the light of our natural satellite during the comments (unquestionably prefer periods without Moon!).
