MUSEUM OF PREHISTORY OF THE VERDON GORGES
Museum retracing the human adventure in Provence from the Lower Paleolithic to the Metal Age
This museum is one of the largest and richest museums dedicated to prehistory in Europe. It retraces the human adventure in Provence from the Lower Paleolithic to the Metal Age. You will discover the history of the first tools: the chopper, the Quinson point, the biface, the scraper, the polished stone axes, the bone punches, the first ceramics, up to the first forms of metallurgy of the Bronze Age. It is a remarkable time machine. Numerous showcases have allowed the reconstruction of scenes of prehistoric life, of a striking realism. A herd of prehistoric animals reconstituted (real size) is enthroned in the entrance of the museum. Mammoth and woolly rhinoceros, saber-toothed tiger, reindeer and megaceros welcome visitors and offer a playful approach to restore Man in his environment.

Les expositions temporaires sont toujours intéressantes, et les conférences passionnantes.
Le village préhistorique, à 500 m du musée, et en accès libre est vraiment à portée des enfants, et en accès libre.
