GARDEN OF THE ABBEY OF VALSAINTES
A garden housing 500 varieties of rosebushes, bulbs, perennials and wild edible plants, with an area dedicated to local produce.
This garden, said to be remarkable, is so in many respects. It is home not only to an exceptional rose garden with 500 varieties of roses, but also to bulbs and perennials, edible wild plants, an area dedicated to local plants, another called the dry garden, because it leaves room for a preserved wild space, and even an agroecological vegetable garden. Offering many natural shelters as well as cavities within the stone buildings, it welcomes many species of birds. Animations are proposed from spring (guided tours, concerts, shows, training courses, conferences, open days...).
Recently, in summer and during the day, sessions of discovery of Gregorian chant are regularly organized in the chapel. You can even stay there! The guest rooms and the gîte of this beautiful Cistercian abbey can indeed accommodate up to fifteen people. The most amazing thing? The "meditation" room has direct access to the old sacristy, in the choir of the church. Simply magical. One period is particularly pleasant for visits: when the rose garden is in full bloom (around May and June). Not only does the garden of the abbey take on many colors and scents, but there are also many activities planned for this occasion. So don't miss the opportunity to go there if you are in the area.
