Located in an exceptional environment, Batik Plage creates a refined art of living and a delicious Mediterranean cuisine.

Batik becomes La Javanaise! This restaurant, nestled on the beach of Petite Afrique, has had a makeover. The new owners have retained the Balinese spirit and chic, elegant atmosphere for which the restaurant is renowned. This Mediterranean oasis invites you to relax, while delighting your senses and taste buds. Chef Jean-Philippe Blondet's sunny à la carte menu focuses on Mediterranean flavors, sublimating daily fish and fresh vegetables. It's a wonderful place to stop, where the atmosphere is guaranteed.

Eh… nothing special. I wish I would have liked it more after shelling out $100 euros for 2 lounge chairs, but it was front row and a mediocre beach in front of me. The food was very overpriced as expected. My Caesar salad was fair and my wife’s burrata salad she also thought was fair. For $26 euro per salad, I would expect more. At the end when it was time for the bill, the waiter asked me to tip him more. He said 20% extra? I said, uh… isn’t that included and he proceeded to tell me that he needs 10% extra due to the service. He literally put our chairs towels on the bed. It was an overall fail for us. We couldn’t wait to leave after we ate. The large mountain nearby I guess is the best attraction, everything else leaves much to be desired. The waiter asking for a tip is wrong and not a good show of top service. If I receive top service, I’ll tip well. He needs to be trained in top service.

Co-owned by Chef Jean-Philippe Blondet (executive chef at Alain Ducasse London), the food is exceptional. Typically a lovely setting like this is compromised by the food, but this menu offering leaves you wanting to return. The drinks are all unique. Linen and natural fibres used in the decor add a cosy and fresh feel to the setting. There are also deckchairs available to hire and catch a tan!
