History. Malongo coffees were born in Nice in 1934 in a small burner that roasted 25 kilos of coffee a day and then 100 kilos. Its annual production increased rapidly to 40 tons per year. In 1952, the Compagnie méditerranéenne des cafés Malongo became the first roaster in the Alpes-Maritimes; agencies were created in Marseille, Toulon and Aubagne. Its fame was achieved on four products: the Express, in its green packaging, the Italian Taste, in its purple packaging, the French Taste, in its yellow packaging and the Decaffeinated in its pink packaging. In 1962, vacuum cans were timidly welcomed, but in 1968, after being bought by Hugo Rombouts, the company set out to conquer the restaurant and hotel business. In 1980, the factory was transferred to Carros (Alpes-Maritimes), and the launch of the Pure Origin boxes, Grande Réserve and Suprêmo, was a success. At the same time, Malongo made a bold bet: the dose machines. And in 1992, the company signed the beginning of its collaboration with Fair Trade. It was thus able to develop its export business and increase its sales. In 2006, the brand invested in a new site to create a unique Cité du Café in the world.
The products. Coffee beans, ground coffee, doses, machines, Bio Tea, but also sweet treats, cups, books...
