THE CANYON OF THE WOLF
The Loup is a coastal river of 45 km long, it has its source in Andon at 1 200 m above sea level and joins the Mediterranean. It flows through the foothills above Grasse to the plain in a series of gorges and cliffs offering a stunning scenery, a few kilometers from the coast. Its passage through La Colle-sur-Loup is done in a deep and spectacular gorge called Canyon de Saint-Donat. A path winds down the banks to the "small gorges" where pebble beach fringed by cliffs invite you to relax. The Loup River has been a source of prosperity for the town thanks to the oil mills and grains that were once installed in the neighbourhood of the Saint-Donat chapel. A county park was created to preserve this unique natural environment.
