LIVING ECO-MUSEUM
Ecomuseum promoting the living heritage of Provence with animals in reconstituted natural environments, trees and shrubs
The La Gaude Ecomuseum, unique in its kind, promotes the living heritage of Provence, fauna and flora. Created by Ib Schmedes in 1988 with the help and support of the municipality, you will discover insects, batrachians and reptiles in their reconstituted natural environments and, in the botanical garden, typical trees and shrubs: arbutus, sorb trees, hackberry trees and olive trees. In vivariums, you will see locusts, grasshoppers, praying mantises and crickets living in harmony with other insects and with snakes, lizards, turtles and frogs.
