JOURNÉE DE LA MARINE
The town of his birth honors Admiral de Grasse. He served in the French Navy and fought in the American War of Independence.
The aim of this day is to honor the Admiral de Grasse. François Joseph Paul, Comte de Grasse and Marquis de Grasse Tilly, was born at the Château des Valettes in Bar-sur-Loup. He served in the French Royal Navy before continuing his career as a lieutenant general in the American Revolutionary War. The American and French national anthems are sung by children from the Amiral de Grasse school group in Square Seytre and Place de la Tour.
