ADOLIVE, THE FIELD OF THE FLOWERY MEADOWS
"It's an inspiring tree. We feel small next to him. Jacqueline Bellino has found serenity among her olive trees, 400 trees of the quail variety of which 150 are century-old and one, millennium, which reaches 7 m in circumference (her favorite). It was in the 1970s that Niçoise aspired to return to the land. Exiled in its hills, in the commune of L'Escarène, 20 km from the capital of the Côte d'Azur, it is now engaged in olive growing and is one of the first in the department to have chosen organic farming, even if it means "passing for a madwoman". Grown without irrigation ("for a greater concentration of polynephols"), the olive trees descend from terrace to terrace and are surrounded by daisies, poppies or wild herbs depending on the season. "Hence the name of the domaine des prés fleuris", smiles Jacqueline Bellino, who finds in this rural setting a source of perpetual inspiration: she has already published several books and collections of poems with the mythical tree as the main theme.... "Olive growing is a physical work but it gives us time to meditate". A vocation for this grandmother of 12 grandchildren whose life seems to be guided by the chance of her encounters around the olive tree. "This tree is a link between people," she continues. She thus welcomes guests to her estate, with her husband Gilles Gallois, and she organizes, in the summer, evenings devoted to jazz and reading under the olive trees...
