Explore the ancient gates of the feudal fortifications and the family home of Marshal André Masséna.
The Levens circuit is designed to make discovering the old village easier, with specific signposting to guide you as you explore Levens. If you'd like to pick up a paper guide, just drop by the Information Office before you set off. The sixty or so solid bronze arrows set in the ground and spread over some 20 km will guide you to the many squares, fountains, cobbled streets and historic monuments. You'll discover the thousand and one wonders of Levens, such as the Boutau stone, the ancient gates of the feudal fortifications, the family home of Marshal André Masséna, nicknamed "the darling of victory", the birthplace of François Malausséna, the first French mayor of Nice, and the Portal, where numerous exhibitions are held throughout the year.. An elevator with panoramic views takes you directly to the Louis-Roux esplanade, 50 m from the tourist office. You'll also find a number of fine religious buildings along the way, including the church of Saint-Antonin and the chapels of the pénitents noirs and pénitents blancs. This is a smart walk for visitors in search of fresh air, as the circuit is perched at an altitude of 600 m. And, to top it all off, a lovely swimming pool is open all summer long from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., so don't forget to pack your bathing suit and towel in your hiking bag.
