RUSSIAN CHURCH
The Russian church is dedicated to Notre-Dame, joy of the Desolate (or Notre-Dame de Consolation) and to Saint Nicolas le Thaumaturge. Built in a Russian style of the seventeenth century in 1892, the Grand Duchess Anastasia, the aunt of Nicolas II, founded an association in the nineteenth century so as to allow consumptive youths of her country to come and stay in Menton. Given the important number of members who were part of the community, an Orthodox church was built according to the plans of Hans Georg Tersling. It was dedicated on November 26th, 1892.
