CHAPELLE DE LA MENOUR
Chapel of La Menour, on a rocky spur, with an impressive staircase classified as a historical monument since 1937
Perched on its rocky spur, this small chapel dominates the road that winds its way from Sospel to Moulinet. It is accessed by a stone path and a bridge over the road. This surprising site was probably that of a small castle or a watchtower, the first traces of the Chapel as a place of worship date back to the 12th century. The northern wall preserves vestiges of medieval buildings. The Chapel of La Menour has been altered several times over the centuries, and the interior decoration is recent (20th century). The impressive staircase leading to the chapel has been classified as a Historic Monument since 1937. Every year, three processions to the Virgin of La Menour follow a path marked by oratories.
