SERVICE D'ACCUEIL NATIONAL TÉLÉPHONIQUE DE L'ENFANCE EN DANGER
The Service d'Accueil National Téléphonique de l'Enfance en Danger is an emergency service available in Nice. It was set up in 1989 to prevent and detect child abuse. The number to call is 119, and it is compulsory to display this number in all places where children are present. Since 2003, 119 has also been an emergency number, accessible free of charge from cell phones. The service is financed equally by the State and the Départements, and is assisted by a technical committee made up of experts in the field of child protection. The service's team is made up of coordinators and listeners, trained in helping relationships and with knowledge of the pathologies associated with child abuse. Their mission is to listen to callers, assess calls and pass on any information of concern to the relevant departmental services. The service works in collaboration with other services of the Groupement d'Intérêt Public, and has its own website and communications manager.
