ENGLISH CASTLE
Located on the Mont Boron hill, the building was constructed around 1856 by the Scottish colonel of the English engineering unit in the Indies called Robert Smith. The building is surprising, between a curious architecture of medieval British and Hindu style that earned it the nickname « la Folie de l'Anglais » or « la Folie Smith ». On the death of Smith in 1875, his son sold the building to Count Melchior Gurowsky of Wezel. Unfortunately, after the Second World War, the count sold the property to a real estate investor who divided it into several apartments, thereby destroying pavilions, houses and terraces. Today, the Botanical Garden is classified as a Historic monument since the year 2000, as well as its colourful and always amazing architecture.
