FRANCISCAN MUSEUM
The Franciscan museum is located on the second floor of the seventeenth century Cimiez monastery buildings. Its entrance is located to the right of that of the church. Here, beauty, calm, and meditation are the watchwords. This small museum talks about the life of the Franciscan monks in Nice, from the creation of their congregation by Saint Francis in the thirteenth century to the present day. A number of artworks are exhibited there (paintings, sculptures, engravings) and monastic documents, including a beautiful illuminated manuscript (collection of liturgical songs). Also, do not miss the three paintings by Louis Bréa of Nice, a 1477 Seraphic cross and a gilded wood Baroque altarpiece.
