GARIBALDI SQUARE
One of the most pleasant places in the city to sit on a terrace in Nice
Elegant, semi-pedestrian, hub of public transport and privileged place of Nice's identity, the Garibaldi square was built in the 18th century according to the Turkish baroque style. It is one of the most pleasant places in the city to sit on a terrace. Originally called "Piazza Pairoliera", its name has changed several times but it has retained the name of Guiseppe Garibaldi, a hero of Italian unification whose statue adorns its centre. Pretty yellow facades line the square. Placed on arcades, they invite contemplation.
