Located a few dozen meters from the village, the fort of Rimplas was the first construction of the Maginot line. A line built between the two wars from Menton to the Ardennes. After 11 years of work, started in 1928, the fort is equipped with the latest modern facilities: three engines supply the work with electricity. It also had a hospital with an operating theatre, drinking water reserves, a cable car supplying it with food and ammunition from the bottom of the valley... More than 300 men lived there from 1935.
