VILLA SANTO-SOSPIR
Villa Santo Sospir in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, currently closed to the public for major restoration work
Owned by Francine and Alec Weisweiller since 1946 and used as a vacation home, the walls of the villa had remained empty. A close friend of Jean Cocteau, who stayed there one summer in 1950, the artist asked Francine if he could draw the head of Apollo with charcoal above the fireplace in the living room... One thing led to another and he tattooed frescoes on all the walls of the house, even the ceilings. Currently, the Villa Santo Sospir is closed to the public while important restoration works are carried out. More information on their website.
