CASTLE KEEP
This dungeon is the seat of the town hall of Saint-Paul since the century
Of the old castle (12th-14th centuries) only the keep remains today, the fortress having been gradually demolished. At the top is a bell cast in 1443 which gave rhythm to the life of the village. The site has welcomed prestigious guests such as François I, the Count of Provence Raimond-Bérenger V and Vauban. Since the 18th century, the dungeon has been the seat of the town hall of Saint-Paul. It was here that the marriage of Yves Montand and Simone Signoret was celebrated on December 22, 1951, surrounded by their witnesses Jacques Prévert and Paul Roux.
