Ramparts built by François in the century during the Italian wars
François1er had these ramparts built in the 16th century during the Italian wars: four solid bastions with orillons defend the city gates while powerful curtain walls protect the sides of the fortress. They are still magnificent, so rather than looking at them from below, take the high ground and walk around the village on the (almost uninterrupted) covered way. Beware of vertigo in some places but you will be able to admire a sublime panorama of the Cap d'Antibes, the sea, the Alps and the Esterel.
