OFFICE DE TOURISME DE SAINT-SAUVEUR-SUR-TINÉE
Tourist office proposing a visit to the village of Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée, and a discovery of numerous chapels.
Leaving the spectacular gorges of Mescla in red shale, we arrive at Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée, a large mountain village located on the edge of the Mercantour National Park and nestled in a bend of the river Tinée. Built with local stone, the village is worth visiting. The many chapels and the baroque church of Saint-Michel-Archange (14th century), restored several times and rebuilt, are witnesses to the rich local religious heritage. The Romanesque pyramidal bell tower with four heads of wolves and the altarpiece of Guillaume Planeta (1583) are classified.
