SAINT-SAUVEUR CHURCH
Church built in the fifteenth century in Saorge, having inside the altarpieces of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries
The church was built in the 15th century and restored and re-cemented in the 18th century. The side altars, with their baroque ornamentation and cherubs, give an impression of movement, and the decorative motifs of gilded stucco add a formal baroque note. Inside, there are altarpieces from the 17th and 18th centuries. The organ, made by the Lingiardi brothers, builders in Pavia, was brought by boat to Nice and brought to Saorge by mule in pieces in 1847. Rebuilt in 1979, it has since been played regularly in concerts.
