This fort built in 1932 is one of the most important of the Maginot line, built to defend the Italian border. It required 5,000m3 of concrete and 385 tons of steel. An electrical power plant with air filtering and ventilation provided comfort. It is still equipped with a 149 mm cannon weighing 13 tons and several rooms are still equipped and open to visitors, explaining the daily life of the troops of the alpine hunters.
