TOURRETTE-LEVENS CASTLE
Castle of the Count of Nice dating from the 11th century, houses the Museum of Butterflies and Natural History
The castle of Tourette-Levens is one of the rare castles of the count of Nice still existing and visitable. It probably occupies the site of an ancient temple and would have been built in the 11th century, before being rebuilt in the following century as a fortress. Its dominant position above the village allowed a perfect surveillance of the surroundings. Bought by the municipality in 1992, it now houses the city's butterfly and natural history museum.
