ABBAYE DE VALBONNE
Romanesque-Gothic abbey on the banks of the Brague river, preserving reliquary busts from the 18th century, in Valbonne.
Founded in 1199 by the Order of Chalais near the Brague river, this listed abbey retains some remarkable remains: a Romanesque altar and portal, and 18th-century reliquary busts. Despite a short-lived existence due to poverty and various crises, it was offered to the Abbey of Lérins in 1303, but it wasn't until 1346 that the latter actually took possession of it. Today, under the patronage of Saint Blaise, Sainte-Marie-de-Valbonne is a precious testimony to local monastic history.
