SENSITIVE NATURAL AREA - THE HILLSIDE OF THE CHAPELS
The site of the Chapels has a landscape interest due to its privileged altitude and the originality of the natural environments that make it up, so it is necessary for the calf to access the signposted trail with the informatives. It houses vast expanses of dry calcicoles lawns, habitats of Community interest in regression in France, but still well preserved in Auvergne. Dry lawns, rare in Allier, have a stronger biodiversity than wooded environments. It is therefore important to maintain them in order to promote landscape, faunistique and floristic diversity. Today, extensive grazing, in partnership with local livestock farmers and punctual mechanical actions, helps maintain ecological wealth. It is one of the few limestone slopes of the Allier with a large variety of orchids, including the ophrys woodcock, the bee ophrys and the burnt orchis, to be discovered during guided tours. The site is dominated by a small, pleasant pine forest to stroll in the event of bad weather, before descending down through the path that goes back to the foot of the church of Saint-Etienne.
