Upscale restaurant offering family cuisine or for a romantic getaway.
At the beginning of the rue Simon Barbier, the façade of the "Au resto chez Georges" is displayed in grey and blue classics. The place seems welcoming, but does not truly suggest the interior decoration.
When you push the door open, it is an impression of class and good taste that calls you first. The room, not very large, but spacious enough, comes in pink and burgundy, with impressionist or figurative paintings hanging on the walls. The furniture is also sought after, with seating: benches and chairs, very comfortable. As for the welcoming, it is Monique who welcomes you very professionally and places you, while her husband, Georges, is in the kitchen. On the day of our visit, the service was extremely fast, but it is true that there were only two other customers, apart from us. As about the cuisine, the menu is well stocked without being overflowing. In any case, it has the merit of being original. The menus are not given, but honestly, we did not regret it. The portions seem a bit chickly, but in the end, we couldn't finish everything we had on the plate. We were with a child who obviously didn't like anything on the menu. So Monique kindly offered him a tailor-made meal. If we had to point out two negative points, because we need them, we could say that, that day, the Chef had a bit of a heavy hand on the salt (on all the dishes) and that Monique, wanting to do too well, was a bit too present at the tables. That said, she has a lot of interesting things to say. A rather upscale restaurant, not necessarily suitable for families and sports meetings, but perfect for a business meal or a romantic getaway.
