Briançon is a Town of Art and History, and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. It is famous for its Vauban fortifications, its ancient Cordeliers church, its Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Nicolas collegiate church and its various town gates. But Briançon is also renowned for being one of Europe's largest ski resorts, part of the Serre Chevalier Vallée ski area. With 82 slopes between 1300 and 2800 meters altitude, 53km of ski runs and 59 lifts, winter sports enthusiasts will find plenty to do here.
