An impressive architectural ensemble housing a village and craftsmen's workshops, Mont-Dauphin's landmark.
It's the emblematic monument of Mont-Dauphin, included on the Unesco World Heritage list of Vauban fortifications. Overlooking the Guil and Durance valleys, the stronghold was built in 1693 to protect France from invasion by the Dukes of Savoy. This impressive architectural ensemble houses a village (free access). The 17th-century fortifications and military buildings can only be visited with a guide.
