SAINT-VÉRAN
Saint-Véran is the highest inhabited village in Europe
In the heart of the Queyras regional natural park, perched at an altitude of 2,402 m, the village of Saint-Véran is the highest inhabited commune in Europe. It is a pedestrian village with historical houses, adapted to life at high altitude. The first floor of dry stones, with thick walls, is surmounted by an upper floor in the form of a "fuste" where fodder was dried to feed the animals in winter. Along the way, you will discover about twenty sundials and workshops of traditional alpine cutlery, woodcarving and weaving.
