THE PIONEERS
Chez Pion, located on the upper part of the commune at the edge of the Bois Noirs, is rich in stories and legends.
Located on the upper part of the commune, at the edge of the Bois Noirs, the hamlet of Les Pions, also known as Chez Pion, is rich in history and legend. Irreducible like the Gauls of theAsterix albums, the inhabitants of Les Pions have always cultivated a certain sense of independence and honor. Resisting all abuses of authority, whether royal or republican, the Pions were part of those communities formed by several families, gathered under the same roof, in order to adapt to the difficult living conditions. They managed to maintain a particular way of life until the eve of the Great War. Michèle Sternberg, driven by the desire to trace her Pion ancestors, published a well-documented book, L'Affaire des Pions, in 2016. Her research gave her access to the "disappeared" judicial archives of Moulins.
