PRIEURÉ SAINT-MAYEUL
A priory built by the Benedictines, where visitors can contemplate the apse of the chapel dating from the century.
Built by the Benedictines on the edge of the forest and on a rocky spur, this priory was also the place where the great abbot of Cluny, Saint Mayeul, would have come to preach. It is then that a fountain with clear water would have sprung from the ground. Today, visitors can only contemplate the apse of the chapel dating from the early 12th century. This building, largely influenced by Cistercian art, suffered the assaults of the Revolution, but what remains of the monument continues to fascinate lovers of religious architecture.
