CASTLE OF FONTARIOL
This domain surrounded by farm buildings is representative of a small Bourbonnais fiefdom.
The castle was certainly built at the end of the 15th century. Marguerite Louan de Fontariol owned it in the 18th century before offering it to her nephew, the Marquis de Tilly. In 1779, it will end up in the hands of Gilbert de Boucaumont des Garennes. One recognizes in its architecture the details of the fortified houses built between Berry and Bourbonnais at the end of the Middle Ages. Surrounded by agricultural buildings, the estate is representative of a small Bourbonnais fiefdom, and this is what makes it worthy of being listed as a historical monument today.
