Chapel founded by the inhabitants, including fishermen from Saint-Nazaire, with a polychrome wooden pedestal from the 17th century
The final point of the Oratories' ascent, the Notre-Dame-de-Pitié chapel was built in 1560 by the inhabitants, many of whom were fishermen from Saint-Nazaire. Originally, only one hermit lived there and he rang the bell in case of bad weather to help the boats returning to the port. Today the chapel houses a beautiful polychrome wooden pedestal from the 17th century and many ex-votos of fishermen or sailors who have escaped death after having implored its protection.
