THE CASTLE OF ANSOUIS
The Château d'Ansouis, a site with formal gardens and preserved keep and fortress turrets.
If the Vaucluse has many castles, the one of Ansouis built at the end of the 10th century is one of the most beautiful, classified as a Historic Monument in 1948. Reshaped several times, it has kept a keep and fortress turrets, its ramparts are equipped with battlements and machicolations. The French gardens are magnificent. From the terrace, the view is superb. Since 2008, a new family has succeeded the Sabran-Pontévès family who had owned it since the 12th century. Frédérique and Gérard Rousset-Rouvière have refurbished the rooms and lounges.
