N°10 - Fiestas de San Isidro - Madrid, Spain
Every year, from May 3 to 15, 2024, on Saint Isidore's Day, the San Isidro festivities take place in Madrid. It's a chance to immerse yourself in Madrid culture. The prestigious bullfighting festival, the Feria de San Isidro, takes place at Las Ventas. Sensitive souls, please refrain! But the most impressive part is watching the Madrilenians in their typical costumes, the chulapos and goyescos . You can also taste the rosquillas, the aniseed cookies of these festivities... Delicious!
N°9 - Avignon Festival - France
Every July, the charming city of the Popes becomes a veritable theater-city. The city's architectural heritage is transformed into a performance venue, welcoming all those with a passion for the performing arts. It's one of the most important international events of its kind. Every year, many visitors take the opportunity to discover Avignon and the surrounding area, in the very special atmosphere of the festival. In 2024, it will take place from June 29 to July 21.
N°8 - Feria de Abril - Seville, Spain
A must-see event for Sevillians, the Feria de Abril is one of the most popular in Spain. Over the course of a week, more than a thousand casetas are set up as entertainment venues for dancing to the rhythm of flamenco. Sevillians dress up in traditional Andalusian costumes and attend the famous bullfights in the Maestranza bullring. In 2024, the Feria de Abril will take place from April 14 to 20.
N°7 - Notting Hill Carnival - London, United Kingdom
Less well known than Venice, the Notting Hill Carnival is nevertheless the biggest in Europe, welcoming over 2 million people every year! This is London's Caribbean Carnival, so it's a great opportunity to discover this culture without even crossing the Atlantic! This huge multicultural festival takes place in August, on the 27th and 28th in 2023.
N°6 - Fêtes de Bayonne - France
Who hasn't heard of the famous festivities that thrill Bayonne and the whole of southern France every year? Everyone dresses up in red and white to celebrate the highly-represented Basque traditions of pelote basque, bullfighting and bandas, in a festive, good-natured atmosphere. In 2024, they will take place from July 10 to 14.
N°5 - Sziget Festival - Budapest, Hungary
Since 1993, the Sziget Festival has been Europe's biggest open-air festival. With over 400,000 festival-goers each year, it's a must for music fans of all kinds. The line-up is, indeed, always highly eclectic: from house to techno to rock. In 2024, the Sziget will take place from August 7 to 12. Confirmed artists already include Major Lazer, Rudimental, Clean Bandit and Tom Odell. So, are you going this year?
N°4 - Palio delle Contrade - Siena, Italy
Twice a year, Siena's sublime Piazza del Campo hosts a legendary horse race: the Palio. Preparations for this event go on all year round, and every inhabitant of the city supports his or her district. During the races, which take place in July 2024, tensions run high and rivalries are rife. And that's the soul of the Palio! A typically Italian gab that's great to hear!
N°3 - Saint Patrick's day - Dublin, Ireland
The only one of its kind, Saint Patrick's Day celebrates Ireland's patron saint every March 17. Whether you're a fan of the sweet beverage or not, Munich's Oktoberfest is a must! It's one of the most popular events in the world! It's the perfect opportunity to discover Bavarian culture through its hop-flavored specialities. And don't hesitate to bring your children along, as the Oktoberfest is home to numerous attractions and cotton candy stands. A real funfair for young and old, it takes place from September 21 to October 6, 2024.

Do you know Pantalone, Arlecchino and Pulcinella? No ? Then it's time to discover the Serenissima, especially during Carnival. This key event is an integral part of Italian folklore. In Venice, you'll see some of the finest costumes, each more refined than the last: that's what makes Carnival so special. Photographers have a field day in what is surely one of the world's most beautiful cities. The Venice Carnival will take place from February 3 to 13, 2024.
