Created in 1986, since 1994 ISTS has occupied renovated premises in the legendary Saint-Louis cloister, and boasts top-quality facilities including a theater workshop equipped with machinery, a sound studio, an electrical workshop, a drawing room, a computer room and an introductory construction workshop. As a center for continuing education in performing arts techniques, ISTS is aimed at stage practitioners, permanent employees of entertainment companies, local technicians and intermittent workers looking for professionalization or advanced training. ISTS offers higher diploma courses - such as Stage Manager or Head Stagehand - as well as courses in design, lighting, sound and electricity. Trades that are in great demand during the Avignon Festival! ISTS is also a documentation and information center for performing arts techniques and training courses, and a driving force behind the city's cultural activities, managing the Benoît XII theater and the Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs.
