The Montfavet hospital is a public health establishment whose mission is to provide mental health care to the entire population of the Vaucluse department (excluding the canton of Pertuis) and the north of the Bouches-du-Rhône department, i.e. some 600,000 inhabitants. It includes a UMD (unit for difficult patients) - one of only five in France - which is nationally recognized for the quality of its care. Every year, the hospital welcomes almost 20,000 patients.
