BIBLIOTHÈQUE DU MUSÉE REQUIEN
In addition to the fossils, skeletons and other stuffed animals, naturalist Esprit Requien (with the support of his friend Esprit Calvet, first professor in the Faculty of medicine of Avignon) was the origin of the expansion of a documentary fund with the bagatelle of 18 000 volumes, a hundred specialized magazines and a map. Thus, in 1840, he did not hesitate to donate his scientific collections and his natural history library, a real treasure that ruined him little by little. So there are many ancient books from the th to the th century, both by scientific and historical scope and by their illustrations. They cross disciplines of botany, geology, zoology, agriculture and medicine, but also travel, history-geography and physical sciences. Consultation of the works is done only on the ground. Photocopies are only permitted for recent works. The old fund is exclusively dedicated to researchers and other botanists.
