The grand hall (20 seats), located on the second floor of the Petit Palais Museum, offers a superb view of the Palais des Papes square and Notre-Dame-des-Doms basilica. The documentary fund is specialized in art history (6 500 works), specifically on the periods of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance with - among other things - Italian and southern French paintings from the th to the early th century. A photo library gathers over 3 000 black and white photographs on painting in Italy and paper Prints for painting in Provence in the Middle Ages. To access it, you must make an appointment. More than 200 titles of multilingual journals dealing with the history of art history, reference books on religious and profane iconography, and books on painting techniques, consevation and heritage restoration are available. So many students in History at the University of Avignon go to the University to prepare their memory or thesis. All available, carefully preserved and restored documents are available only on site, but it is possible to make photocopies.
