Located just opposite the cinema Utopia République, a few metres from the Rue de la République, it is the continuation of "The Maison du Livre et des Mots", the first Maison de la Poésie française, founded in 1976 at the Chartreuse of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. Its approach? Make poetry accessible to all through the support of the Association "Poetry in the City". Thus, the European Centre of Poetry of Avignon holds over 300 original and unpublished manuscripts of contemporary French and foreign poets. Established in 1986, the establishment is fully integrated into the cultural fabric of the city by promoting the implementation of multidisciplinary projects around poetry. Thus, as part of the PAE (Educatives Projects Projects), the Centre invites students and students to meetings with writers and artists, the creation of writing workshops or participation in poetry competitions. Members may also participate in educational workshops: writing workshop on Saturday, a high-voice reading workshop on Sunday.
