DISTILLERIE MANGUIN
Discover Maison Manguin, producer of eaux-de-vie for 60 years in Avignon.
It's on Barthelasse Island that Maison Manguin has been expressing its expertise and passion for fruit brandies since 1957. Béatrice and Emmanuel Hanquiez took over the distillery in 2011. The island is located on the Rhône between the Palais des Papes and the Chartreuse de Villeneuve-les-Avignon, and its sand and silt soils are ideal for growing fruit, particularly pears, which you can discover in the 1,000-bottle orchard between mid-May and mid-July, with thousands of bottles hanging from the branches of the pear trees to produce the famous prison pears. Manguin's flagship products are Williams pear eaux-de-vie and other local fruits, including distilled olive, Oli'Gin, olive gin, and citrus liqueurs: Corsican clementine and lemon bergamot. The range of spirits produced by this family-run distillery extends to liqueurs de Provence and crèmes de fruits, aperitifs and pastis, as well as vieille prune, vieille reine-claude and vieux marc, beer brandy, muscatel, Elayos and Caraxès - Blend Poire & Rhum. During the guided tour, which takes around an hour, you'll discover the workshops and receive full explanations of the stages and methods of production. The tour ends, of course, with a tasting session.
