France's finest fine arts museum, with collections ranging from Antiquity to modern art.

One of the most beautiful fine arts museums in France, both for the quality and variety of its collections and for the private mansion that houses it. Born from the will of one man, Esprit Calvet (1728-1810), a great collector from Avignon, it has been enriched over the centuries by thousands of donations and legacies from regional, French and Italian collectors. Its collections cover periods from antiquity to modern art; Greek, Etruscan, Roman, Gallo-Roman and Egyptian arts are presented in the Lapidary Museum.

Bel hôtel particulier, qui recèle un musée à voir lors d'une visite de la ville d'Avignon (pour compléter une venue au célèbre festival par exemple... !)

Beau musée dans bel Hôtel particulier. Belles collections mais trop grande place accordée aux peintres classiques nationaux. Une plus grande place devrait être accordée à la peinture régionale et locale.
