The Petit Palais is a shining example of a former cardinal's palace built in the 14th century at the time of Pope John XXII. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is one of the finest museums in Europe for its collections of medieval and Italian Renaissance art. It houses some 300 paintings by the Italian Primitives, including Botticelli's Madonna and Child and Venus with the Three Putti , Liberale da Verona's Christ at the Column, Vittore Crivelli's Madonna and Child enthroned between two angels, and Nicolas Dipre's Dream of Jacob.
