DYERS' STREET
Rue des Teinturiers d'Avignon is an exceptional place to stroll, appreciated in summer for the coolness emanating from the canal.
One of the most picturesque streets in Avignon's old town center, it's a popular place to stroll for its bucolic atmosphere along the canal, under the plane trees that keep things cool in the warmer months. It's also the heart of a lively district, where cafés and restaurants welcome you to their lively terraces, especially during festivals. The street floor is paved with Durance pebbles, so flat shoes are a must. Its name derives from the flourishing textile industry between the 14th and 19th centuries.
