Visit the three rural chapels that bear witness to the history of Provence after the ravages of the plagues in Beaumes-de-Venise.
It's customary for rural chapels to be built at the entrance to a village. This is the case here for the three chapels built in the 16th and 17th centuries after the plagues that ravaged Provence. The Saint-Roch chapel was built in 1586, using stones from the old church to rebuild it. Saint-Sébastien chapel, construction of which began in 1601, was completed after the plague of 1629. A beautiful wrought-iron cross adorns its forecourt. In the Sainte-Anne chapel, built after the plague of 1629 and rebuilt in 1634, several inhabitants were buried.
