GROTTE DE SAINT-EUCHER
A cave nestled in the cliffs, 80 m high and over 1,000 m long, overlooking the Durance, a sanctuary worth visiting
Nestled in the 80-metre-high, 1,000-metre-long cliffs overlooking the Durance River, the Grotte de Saint-Eucher de Lyon in Beaumont-de-Pertuis is much more than just a natural sanctuary. It was once the refuge of Saint Eucher himself. Converted into a chapel, it houses a stone altar and the unfortunately vandalized statue of the saint. This sacred place of pilgrimage is a historic symbol for the commune. On the outskirts of the grotto, a magnificent hanging terraced garden clings to the cliffside, offering a breathtaking view of the surrounding area.
