THE JULIAN BRIDGE
Pont Julien, built in the century B.C. and remarkably well-preserved.
On the mythical Via Domitia, there were numerous engineering structures. The Pont Julien, well maintained and admirably preserved, represents the major structure on the Provencal section of the Via Domitia. The bridge we can admire today dates back to the1st century and still has all its stones! It is 80 m long, 6 m wide and 11.50 m high. Its 3 semicircular arches span the Calavon River. The quality of its construction is remarkable: it has withstood 2,000 years of use! Reserved for pedestrians and cyclists.
